Aseman is a new exciting jazz/world music project which performs original songs influenced by the deep and rich cultures of Iran and Israel. The project was created by two Iranians and one Israeli, who are excited and curious about each other’s culture and musical heritage and who swim against the political current to form a strong and unique sound, friendship and musical bond.
Mahan Mirarab (guitar) and Golnar Shahyar (voice, guitar), both born in Tehran, made Vienna their home. They have been working together for several years in different formations such as their trio Sehrang and have been stretching the boundaries between Iranian music and jazz. So far they recorded three albums together and has played with internationally renowned musicians such as Erkan Ogur, Alain Perez, Alex Simu, Pavel Urkiza, etc.
Hadar Noiberg (flute) was born in Israel and moved to Brooklyn when she was 21. Hadar leads her own trio where she fuses styles seamlessly. Flowing between Jazz and World Music, she has established herself as both innovative and highly skilled in the Jazz and World Music scenes nationally and internationally.
