MISS FITZ
Maayan Nidam aka Miss-Fitz aka Laverne Radix has been spinning and producing music since 1999. Her releases can be found on Raum…musik, Freak n' Chic and on Circus Company. On Kalimari she releases as Uli Kunkel (together with Shaun Reeves & Lee Curtiss), on Oslo as well as on Cyclical Tracks she releases as Mara Trax (together with Vera). Her music has been remixed by Ricardo Villalobos, Jeff Samuel, Ryan Crosson, Mossa, Pheek, Spasm and others.
In April 2008 Miss Fitz released „Drifting On“ on Jay Haze’s Contexterrior, which became a huge hit in the electronic dance scene. Heard for the first time, 'Drifting' convinces the listener that Miss Fitz has sampled a huge chunk of a Nina Simone song, but listening to it again, it's clear that the soulful tones belong to the author. Set to a sombre beat and a more upbeat dubby rhythm track on the edit, it's one of the best examples of the creative art of vocal sampling.
Although based in Berlin Fitz keeps on the move, spinning a mixture of underground house and techno around the globe in venues such as Colors Studio in Tokyo, Robert Johnson in Frankfurt, Club Transmediale Berlin, Wolf+Lamb in NY, Decadance in Belgium, Mono-Club in Amsterdam, Pacotek in Jerusalem, Hive Club and Cityfox @ Alte Boerse in Switzerland and many more, making frequent appearances around Berlin on her “space mokeys unite!” nights at Watergate and Arena Club, as well as in changing venues in London.
On the rest of her time Fitz reviews music for Vice magazine (Germany) and posts for Underground-Amputations.
