Smoke the Bees are an alternative rock band from Turin, Italy, formed in 2012. Music is intense, atmospheric, reflective, as well as tuneful, irreverent and catchy, combining diverse genres and influences creating a distinctive sound with a leading thread. This generates a natural empathy from the first listening. Sources of inspiration are Radiohead, Sparklehorse, Syd Barrett, and the Icelandic music scene.
A beekeeper smokes the bees to make them dizzy and get the honey with no danger. In the same way humans get lost in everyday distractions while their lives go by. This is a modernist metaphor about society's homogenisation and individual alienation.
